The challenge:

The client has booked my professional organizing service because she wants to organize her kitchen better. There are several problems that stress her and her family everyday:

  • A cluttered counter that doesn’t leave enough space for preparation and cooking.
  • The food packages get mixed up, so that the family has little overview and buys some things twice.
  • No overview of snacks for the children.
  • A clever solution is needed for deposit bottles and recycling storage.
  • A chaotic junk drawer.
  • Overall too little space in the cupboards and drawers, although the kitchen is a good size.

This kitchen needs a new system of organization – to make the family’s life easier everyday

The solution:

At the first appointment, we diligently decluttered: long-expired food and unused or outdated kitchen utensils were disposed of. We also assigned the different food categories to specific shelves and drawers. For example, a large drawer became a “pantry” in which only unopened food is stored.

We decided which items will remain on the counter. The kettle and toaster, for example, are used daily and can stay there. Most other kitchen utensils now return to the appropriate cupboard after each use.

We then planned new storage solutions: returnable bottles, glass containers and paper waste are now collected in three large jute bags. This way recycling can be conveniently carried to the container or supermarket.

Pleasant natural material and practical at the same time:
From now on, returnable bottles, glass containers and paper waste will go into these jute bags

On my advice, the family decided on a new spice system with uniform jars. A practical shelf insert ensures that the spice containers are very clearly arranged in the drawer.

There are also new, transparent storage tins for flour, rice and muesli. This way, it is always visible how much is still in stock and when it is necessary to shop. White boxes were bought for snacks and baking accessories, in which everything can be neatly stowed away.

By the way, you can find more tips for the right storage containers in the kitchen in this blog post.

The before-and-after effect:

And this is what the client says about the newly organized kitchen:

“I was a little nervous before the first professional organizing appointment with Christin because our cupboards were so chaotic. However, she completely put me at ease and did not make any judgment about our situation (Even when we found spices which were over 10 years old!). Christin brought a great energy, which really helped me to keep focused through the decluttering and organization.

I also feel that Christin fully understood our needs to make the kitchen space work for our family and to introduce a system that we could maintain. I learned a lot and I was delighted with what we achieved together. Our cupboards look fantastic.

I think the fact that we have been able to maintain the organization is a testament to Christin’s methods. Overall, I am delighted with how our kitchen looks and functions. It brings me a feeling of calm now that the chaos has disappeared.”
